First-time Adult Passport - Jerusalem

If you have one of the following documents, you have already been documented as a U.S. citizen and now may apply for your first U.S. passport:

  • U.S. birth certificate

  • U.S. Certificate of Citizenship

  • U.S. Certificate of Naturalization or

  • Consular Report of Birth Abroad

Please be sure to have the following documents, originals as well as copies:

  1. Application for a U.S. Passport: DS-11 Fill out the form completely before your appointment, but DO NOT sign it.

  2. Photo: One 2 inch x 2 inch / 5cm x 5cm square passport photo taken within the last six months. Note: There is no photographer at the Embassy.

  3. Evidence of U.S. citizenship, can be any of the following: (Note: Original documents are required. Notarized copies are unacceptable. Bring one photocopy in addition to your original document.)

    • U.S. birth certificate

    • U.S. Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization, or

    • Consular Report of Birth Abroad

    • A valid or expired U.S. passport

4. Proof of Identity, can be any of the following: (Note: Original documents are required. Notarized copies are unacceptable. Bring one photocopy in addition to your original document.)

Must be a valid, government-issued photo I.D., such as:

  • Foreign passport

  • Driver’s license

  • National identity card with photograph, or

  • Military I.D with photograph

5. Printed payment confirmation sheet from Pay.gov

6. Printed confirmation of payment for return courier (see below)


New Policy Regarding Postage:


As of June 12th Israel Post is requiring pre-paid courier service for *all* applications, with the exception of emergency, limited-validity passports.


There is *no* option to fill out Israel Post delivery slips at the Consulate. There is *no* option for pickup for a regular-validity U.S. passport.


Click on the following link to pay for your courier service. Cost of the service is 60 NIS.


You must *print* the confirmation page and include it with your application and documents, whether you are submitting your application by mail, via dropbox, or in person.


When your passport is ready the U.S. Embassy will pass all documents directly to Israel Post for delivery. Israel Post will contact you to arrange delivery.

Please arrive on time for your appointment. The embassy will not honor your appointment if you are late.


Parking:

There is ample street parking in the area of the Embassy.


Security requirements at the embassy:

For security reasons the embassy will not allow entrance with any electronic devices, including *phones* and smart watches; bags, briefcases, or backpacks (with the exception of a diaper bag); weapons of any kind; fire-lighting equipment; liquids, sprays, powders, or lip balm. If you bring a water bottle you may be asked to sip it.


Lockers:

There are storage lockers available at the Embassy for your convenience, free of charge.

This post seems to be addressing the in-person appointments with form DS-11. On the other hand the printed payment conformation page seems to only be for DropBox passport renewal with form DS-82. Based on what I see on the US embassy site it seems that the payment for in-person appointments is with cash or credit card. Did I misunderstand something here?
